1902 : The PLOUE removal company is founded.

1923 : Louis Le Calvez arrives at the company, and the first truck purchased.

1965 : The company begins to diversify its business activities and introduce new services.

1969 : The first long-duration rental contracts are signed for industrial vehicles with drivers (bottled gas distribution and fuel delivery).

1986 : The temperature-controlled transport and logistics service is launched.

1988 : The poultry transport service is launched.

1999 : The company develops its gas services in Western France.

2003 : The company launches its transport and logistics services for frozen products, with the construction of a national network.

2010 : All refrigerated vehicle activities are regrouped under the brand LE CALVEZ SURGELES.

2011 : A specialised warehouse is created in Rennes.

2013 : The company diversifies its services in the poultry sector to include agri-food co-products in Brittany. It develops its gas contracts, installs storage tanks, and continues to implement its national network in frozen products and commercial development.


Depuis 1995 / Jean-Jacques LE CALVEZ

jean-jacques-le-calvezJean-Jacques LE CALVEZ, who joined the Group in 1981, took over as managing director in 1987. He became CEO of the Group in 1995, representing the fourth generation to have headed the family company. Loyal to his Breton roots, he anchored the company in Western France, but also developed it on a national level.

> The head office of the Group and the departments for Gas transport and logistics, Hydrocarbon transport, and Poultry transport are based in Brest/Guipavas (Finistère – Brittany).

> The operational head offices for the Temperature-controlled transport and Logistics departments are based in Rennes/Noyal-sur-Vilaine (Ile et Vilaine – Brittany).

He equipped the Group with modern and efficient tools for production and management (transport equipment, contemporary property, state-of-the-art computer technology).



1971-1995 / Jean LE CALVEZ

Jean-LE-CALVEZAfter joining the company in 1950, Jean Le Calvez, the son of Louis, who was CEO of the Group from 1971 to 1995, set out to develop the company from its modest artisanal size into the large-scale transport Group we know today.

Strongly committed to regional road transport services, he was also a man of action, ensuring the company’s development and establishing networks such as Déméco and France-Express.

From a hundred people in the late sixties, the Group counted 380 employees by 1985.

Louis-LE-CALVEZLouis Le Calvez, Jean Ploué’s son-in-law, will be remembered– until his retirement in 1971 – for his strong personality. An extraordinary man, he was respected, feared, and loved.

The company thrived and grew, helped by the dynamism of Brittany which was in full expansion. It diversified its activities: removals, delivery for retailers with multiple branches, mail delivery, and long distance transport.
In 1947, the company had 8 trucks. By 1961, it counted 35.


1917-1952 / Jean PLOUÉ
jean-ploue-1917-1952The company founder, Jean Ploué, launched a removal company, using horse-drawn vehicles to get around the roads of Finistère.

In 1925, the company introduced its first truck.
